Ice fishing on Lake Winnipeg is a popular pastime that is growing more popular every year. This growing number of fishers and a lack of sanitation facilities has caused a problem with unsanitary conditions along the shoreline. To help protect the shoreline the RM is installing two portable bathrooms and trash cans at each of the Lake Winnipeg ice access points at Balsam Bay and Sunset Bay.
The RM will closely monitor the conditions of the portable bathrooms. If they are being abused, the RM will likely remove them. If they are useful, there is a possibility they will install more.
