Fast Facts: Road Renewal in St. Clements

Investment in municipal roads reached a record of nearly $1 million last year. This is a significant increase in the RM’s investment in roadwork and reflects our success in leveraging program money from other levels of government. All of our efforts have been prioritized to maximize these grants:

  • In 2013, this strategy paid off when the Province awarded St. Clements a $300,000 grant, allowing us to do nearly $600,000 of work.
  • In 2014, thanks to our success in securing funds, roadwork reached a record of nearly $1 million in new spending.
  • In 2014, municipal property taxes collected from residents represented only 54.5% of the total budgeted expenditures on municipal services and infrastructure. The remaining expenditures were funded from non-tax sources.
  • Total investments in transportation services and equipment replacement during the current year will reach a record $4.1 million, including higher spending in all transportation-related areas from paving to drainage to gravel and dust control.
